I'm really confused with the licensing model. In the arxiv paper, https://arxiv.org/abs/2607.09424 it's titled "A Sovereign, Open-Source Foundation Model for German and English" but the license in Huggingface is clearly non open-source. Can you clarify this? Thanks a lot.

Also whats happening with my Data, DSGVO?

Why a german ministry which is payed by my taxes needs my personal information to get access for a public model?

Why a model created from absolute scratch is a NVIDIA Nemotron-3 Finetune.

Where is everyone? Fleeing from the justice cause of scam? Everyone drunk of doing Party?

I dunnow whats happening but in the meanwhile the community is watching carefully and they have many questions.

If you want feedback and don't fear it make it public and not a selection of company's without real knowledge.
Thats always the german problem. Bureaucracy. Let it go, let it flow, make it good make use of the community not war against.

It is no finetune. It trained from scratch with 25T tokens. They just reused the architecture.

I think you are a bit exaggerating here.
Its not unlikely that this model will fade away quickly, because its gated (unfortuantely), but your statemetns are polemical.

Nemotron-3-a3b-30b is dumb—not because Nvidia is too incompetent to train it, but because the base model itself is dumb. It exists, but it has no real relevance. That isn't polemics; that’s reality.

Chill mal, die haben das hochgeladen, ihre Timeline erreicht. Jetzt sind die erstmal mit Party, Palmen, Weibern und nem Bier beschäftigt oder mit selbstbeweihräucherung oder so, keine Zeit für die Community, die sind alle viel zu busy um das hier zu lesen. 🤣

Könnte natürlich auch sein das die ne Soofi AI am laufen haben, die auf den freischalten Button drücken soll. 🤔

Even more annoying as the model seems to be available via LMStudio, so why not here in HF?
Edit model seem to have been withdrawn in LM_Studio, but still listed with 57 downloads?

So you won't give access to this models, since they're "unfinished" ... then why post everything publicly what won't be included and still have the request access up?

Wasting a few minutes of each people trying to figure this out scales with the number of people to quite some time. Just saying.

This is sooooo stupid. I've been waiting to get access for 4 days now, resubmitted the request 3 times with ADDITIONAL INFO because that's how ANY SERIOUS party on HuggingFace does provide access to their gated models.

Oh, and support for this will evaporate IN SECONDS if you guys keep people from actually testing and working with your models. It's not like you will have months' time to get this going - world is not moving at Telekom speed, but at actual real life world speed.

They’re already lagging behind; by the time they get going, the race will be over.

What is saw in linked is that now different institutions seem to have access granted, but I also saw one reporting that they were required to sign an NDA..

and @Phil2Sat - I agree to the race. Key thing is that people use the model - many models struggle with being used.
However, the German way these days is normally to invent regulations and say only this model is allowed for industrial usage and try to prohibit the rest.
E.g. forbid Qwen - because the training data is not open and such./.

The German way these days is self destruction. I'm German and Germany is done. I would do it the same way, grab the money. Up, up and away...

ich warte auch schon 2-3 Wochen auf das LLM und nix passiert. dachte erst es liegt an meinem profil, also alles ausgefüllt aber es tut sich trotzdem nichts... würde es gerne testen!!!

Es ist halt traurig, wenn man weiß, wie wichtig Geschwindigkeit in diesem Umfeld ist. Bis wir das nutzen können, braucht es niemand mehr, weil man schon drei bessere Modellgenerationen von den Chinesen frei verfügbar bekommen hat....so funktioniert das niemals mit der europäischen AI Souveränität.

warten ist auch total sinnlos, alle 3-6 Tage bekommt eins der großen Modelle auch China ein Update und alle 7-10 ein US Modell, wenn Deutschland alle 30 schafft wäre das schon ein wunder ;/ open closed beta macht auch trainingsgründen kaum sinn

BER — the fiasco of an airport. (Maybe Soofi, the fiasco of an Model?)

What was supposed to be a modern airport project turned into one of Germany's most infamous examples of mismanagement: decades of planning, rebuilding, delays, technical failures and enormous amounts of wasted money. The problem wasn't simply that the project was complicated. It was a systemic failure across almost every level — from planning and coordination to construction, oversight and, above all, leadership.

The original opening was planned for 2011. Instead, BER became synonymous with missed deadlines, exploding costs, defective systems and seemingly endless construction work. Fire safety alone became a major nightmare, with thousands of technical issues and an airport that was repeatedly declared "almost ready" before yet another problem emerged.

And while there were certainly genuine technical and engineering challenges, the deeper problem was managerial. Responsibilities were fragmented, decision-making was chaotic, oversight was inadequate, and major problems were repeatedly discovered far too late. Instead of having a clear chain of responsibility and competent project leadership, the project became a maze of competing interests, political influence and poor coordination.

In the end, an airport that was originally expected to cost roughly €2 billion ended up costing well over €6 billion in construction and related expenditure. After years of delays, redesigns and political embarrassment, BER finally opened in 2020 — almost a decade after its originally planned opening.

BER is therefore much more than a story about a building project that went wrong. It became a textbook example of what happens when enormous public projects combine political interference, fragmented responsibility, weak project management and a culture in which admitting problems early is harder than pretending everything is still under control.

Thirty years of planning, rebuilding, burning money, and solving problems that should never have existed in the first place.
(And yet, perhaps the most frustrating part is knowing that we may simply repeat the same mistakes again with Soofi-Project. As George Santayana put it: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.")

And perhaps the most remarkable part?

Almost none of it was caused by the airport being technically impossible to build.

It was caused by people failing to manage the project properly.
